Latest Developments

Improving the home

Our investment of nearly a £1M to improve the home has proved extremely timely.  The wider corridors have improved access and this has proved invaluable during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Deep cleaning and social distancing would have been very difficult without these modifications completed in 2018.

The First Floor lounge

The building is now much easier to navigate and we have six new rooms with modern bathrooms.  The first floor has a wonderful atrium that can be used by residents and their relatives when the situation improves.  Since these developments new window frames have been installed in the conservatory and the boundary fence has been replaced.  To facilitate meetings of residents with family members the large summer house off the driveway is being modified and a small summer house has been constructed.  Both will have heating and lighting to facilitate residents meetings with family members, if, as we expect, restrictions on visiting in the home continue through the autumn and winter.

Extensive areas of new carpeting have been laid to facilitate deep cleaning as an infection control measure.

Residents Activities

Programme of Events.

Job’s Close arranges numerous activities throughout the year for its residents.

Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, activities in their traditional format are currently suspended.

However, Debbie Powell our Activities Co-ordinator has been able to provide entertainment at the Home to residents in small groups of up to three. Events and activities arranged so far and those planned for the future include:

Regular bible reading
Weekly exercise class
You tube reminiscence – including our favourite songs
A virtual trip to the zoo
A virtual trip around the titanic
Wild presentations
Our favourite holidays around the world
V.E day celebrations

Whilst offering these Debbie and all of the staff at the home are exercising the Government’s guidance on social distancing. All staff are provided with full Personal Protective Equipment.

Debbie is also distributing craft packs to the residents.

Job’s Close looks forward to the time when it is able to return to normality and resume our traditional full programme of monthly entertainment for our residents.

Should you require any further information please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us here at Job’s Close.
